Our Mission

Our Church exists to provide a liberal religious environment which nurtures the spiritual growth of all the members in an atmosphere of free inquiry, mutual respect and trust; challenges us to speak and act on our convictions; values the guidance of reason; promotes an attitude of acceptance and tolerance among all people; celebrates the magic and mystery of the universe; honors the uniqueness of every individual and the diversity of life; and creates a caring, mutually supportive community with which to share joys and concerns.

Love is the Spirit of this church; and service is its law. This is our great covenant: To dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another.

"Liberal theology is not for the faint of heart. It points us in a general direction without telling us the specific destination. It refuses to make our commitments for us, but holds us accountable to the commitments we make. . . It invites us to live with ambiguity without giving in to facile compromise; to be open to change without accepting change too casually: to take commitment seriously not blindly; to be engaged in the culture without succumbing to the culture's values."

From Faith Without Certainty: Liberal Theology in the 21st Century by Paul Rasor
